Omnia Nova Africa

Africa, the Continent of Hope

A multilingual meeting place for discovering, interpreting and sharing the signs of hope emerging across Africa — through cultural reflection, faith, language learning and responsible technological innovation.

Our vision

Beyond Afro-pessimism, towards informed hope

Omnia Nova Africa acknowledges the continent’s challenges while giving sustained attention to the people, communities, ideas and initiatives creating possibilities for peace and integral human development.

Our central conviction is simple: Africans are authors of their own futures and contributors to the world’s intellectual, spiritual, cultural and technological life.

About Omnia Nova Africa
Our mission

To make African sources of hope visible, deepen dialogue, and connect knowledge with action in service of human dignity and peace.

Founding inspiration

Two Latin expressions, one horizon

Together they establish our identity: a meeting place between the promise of renewal and Africa’s creative contribution to the world.

Ecce nova facio omnia.
“Behold, I make all things new.”
Revelation / Apocalypse 21:5 — the Latin wording is also cited in the Holy See’s Latin text of Laudato si’.
Ex Africa semper aliquid novi.
“Out of Africa, always something new.”
Traditional formulation associated with Pliny the Elder — an adaptation of a saying recorded in Natural History, VIII.42. See this philological study.
